Grant requests are typically in the range of $15,000 to $50,000.

Generally, no. Qualified 501(c)(3) organizations are preferred.

Although a 501(c)(3) designation is preferred, an organization within our Justice and Journalism & Storytelling program areas may on occasion partner with a 501(c)(3) as its fiscal agent or fiscal sponsor. Please contact a Field Foundation program officer to clarify and confirm eligibility.

Although the term “fiscal sponsor” is often used loosely and interchangeably with the term “fiscal agent”, the terms do not mean the same thing.

  • “Fiscal Agency” typically involves one entity (the “fiscal agent”) acting as the legal agent of another entity (the “principal”).
  • “Fiscal sponsorship” typically involves a 501(c)(3) organization (the “fiscal sponsor”) providing financial or other support to a project that does not have its 501(c)(3) status (the “sponsored project” or “project”).

Yes. If you are unable to submit your application through our online platform, we will work with you to submit hard copies of your forms. Please contact a Field Foundation program officer to discuss.

Our only grants to individuals are through our Leadership Investment portfolio for the Leaders for a New Chicago Award.

The foundation only makes grants for direct service under our ART program area.
